Terms of Service

1. General provisions

These Terms of Service govern the use of the website and services of the ScanSanctions platform (the “Service”). By using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Terms in full.

If you do not agree with any provision of these Terms, you must stop using the Service.

2. Purpose and nature of the Service

ScanSanctions provides an informational sanctions screening service based on processing and aggregating data from official open sources of sanctions information.

The Service:

does not constitute legal advice, does not replace the user’s internal compliance procedures, and does not make decisions on the user’s behalf.

All screening results are provided for informational and supporting purposes only and must be interpreted independently by the user.

3. “As is” basis and disclaimer of warranties

All services are provided on an “as is” basis.

The Service administration:

does not guarantee the absence of errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete data; does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service; and does not guarantee that information will always be current at any particular moment in time.

The user understands and accepts that sanctions lists may be updated with delays, may differ between sources, and may contain ambiguous data.

4. Limitation of liability

The ScanSanctions administration shall not be liable for:

any decisions made by the user based on the Service data; any direct or indirect losses, including financial, reputational, or regulatory; and any consequences arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Service.

Liability may arise only in cases related to direct financial settlements within the Service’s billing system and only if the user complies with all provisions of these Terms.

5. Use by government and financial organizations

The Service may be used by financial institutions and government or public authorities, including consulates and visa services, solely as an auxiliary analytical tool.

Full responsibility for decision-making (including visa, immigration, financial, and regulatory decisions) always remains with the relevant authority or organization.

6. Registration and accuracy of information

The user confirms that they:

provide accurate and up-to-date information during registration; have lawful grounds to use the Service; and do not violate the rights of third parties.

The user bears full responsibility for any consequences of providing inaccurate information.

7. Age requirements

Use of the Service is permitted for persons aged 14 or older, or with the consent of a legal guardian where permitted by applicable law.

8. Personal data

By using the Service, the user agrees to the processing of personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

The user understands that servers and data processing infrastructure may be located in different jurisdictions, regardless of the user’s country of residence.

9. API and automated access

Use of the API:

is permitted only within the established limits and licenses; prohibits attempts to bypass restrictions, automated scraping, or unauthorized access; and places responsibility on the user for all requests made using their API key.

10. Prohibited use

The user is prohibited from using the Service:

for unlawful activities; to circumvent sanctions regimes; to submit knowingly false information; or to attempt to interfere with the operation of the Service or its infrastructure.

11. Intellectual property

All elements of the Service, including software code, structure, interface, texts, and materials, are intellectual property and are protected by applicable law.

12. Changes to the Terms

The Service administration may modify these Terms at any time without prior notice.

Continued use of the Service after changes are made constitutes the user’s acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Any disputes, claims, or controversies arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located within the State of California.
